In Texas, the sale of energy is divided into three parts.

• Generation; in which the same companies continue to generate power.
• Delivery; which is the grid or wires that run around the city, which is a paid service provided by the encumbant to all companies that sell electricity
• Retail Electric Providers (REP’s); such as Ambit, who sell you the electricity.
